1. What is IMPS?

IMPS i.e. Immediate Payment Service is an instant money transfer service facilitated by NPCI which provides 24x7x365 instant fund transfer facility, to bank as well as to non-bank (through RBI authorized PPI's) customers across India.

4. How do I get IMPS enabled?

Sender-

The customer has to do the Mobile Banking Registration with the branch if he/she wants to initiate the transaction through mobile channel, & has to download 'Kalyan Klick' app from google play store.

Receiver-

Collect his/her Mobile Money Identifier (MMID) from bank and share with sender or alternatively share his/her Account number & IFS code or Aadhar number for receiving money. The receiver can register his/her mobile no. for getting SMS alerts for transactions. For getting MMID no., customer has to register for IMPS facility. If customer desires to give his/her Aadhar No. then, said Aadhar No. should have beenlinked with Gas subsidy or any other subsidy, & remittance will be sent to the account linked to the said Aadhar number.

5. How do I transfer funds using IMPS ?

The following channels may be used to initiate IMPS transactions.

  • Mobile phones

1) Smartphone- Bank App / SMS        2)  Basic phone- SMS

The sender enters receivers details like:

  • MMID & Mobile no. / Account number and IFS Code /

1) Aadhaar number

2) Amount to be transferred

3) Remarks/Payment Reference number

4) Sender's M-PIN (For transaction authentication)

5) Both sender & receiver gets confirmation by SMS.

6. Does the customer need to register to remit the funds through IMPS?

For using IMPS on mobile phones, a customer will have to register for mobile banking with his/her home branch. However, for remitting funds with IMPS through Bank's branch no prior Mobile banking registration is required, for non-account holders.

7. Can a customer link more than one account to the same mobile number?

Yes. Customer can link more than one account to the same mobile number. However each A/C no. will have different MMID.

8. Is the beneficiary customer also required to register for IMPS?

No need for registration, if receiving money using bank account details or Aadhaar no. However, for receiving money through Mobile no. & MMID, registration for Mobile Banking facility is mandatory.

9. What is MMID? How do I get this Issued?

Mobile Money Identifier is a 7 digit no., issued by the bank. MMID is one of the input which when clubbed with mobile no. facilitates fund transfer. Combination of Mobile no. & MMID is uniquely linked with an Account number and helps in identifying the beneficiary details. Different MMID's can be linked to same Mobile no.

10. What are the options available for a customer for doing IMPS transaction?

  • Using Beneficiary Mobile no. and MMID
  • Using Beneficiary Account no. and IFS Code
  • Using Beneficiary Aadhaar Number

11. What happens if my mobile phone is lost?

Customers need to inform their branch and deactivate their Mobile banking services.

12. Is the facility of Stop payments is available on IMPS?

No. IMPS is an immediate fund transfer service, after initiating the payment request payment cannot be stopped or cancelled.

13. If I change my Mobile no., do I again need to register for Mobile Banking?

Yes, customer needs to update their new mobile no. in the account.

14. If I change my Telecom service provider, do I need to register again?

 No need for re-registration if there is no change in mobile number re-registration is required only if there is a change in mobile no.

15. What are the timings for initiating and receiving IMPS remittances?

IMPS transactions can be sent and received 24x7x365 (round the clock), including holidays.

16. Where do I register a complaint with reference to the IMPS transaction?

Customer can log IMPS complaint with their respective branches or write to us on imps@kalyanjanata.in

17. What are the charges for the customer for sending and receiving remittances using IMPS

At present, the charges for remittances through IMPS will be as applicable to NEFT charges. Bank reserves the rights to vary the charges from time to time. Such changes will be displayed on the website of the bank.

18. What should I do, to keep my IMPS service active after changing my Mobile handset?

If you change the handset of mobile, you have to submit written application in person to respective branch. This is required since IMPS is linked to mobile no. as well as handset identity to protect your interest. This is required for your accounts safety, particularly when your handset is lost or stolen.
